AGV (Automated Guided Vehicles)

AGVs (Automated Guided Vehicles) are machines most often used to transport materials around manufacturing plants and warehouses. They are also known as Laser Guided Vehicles (LGV) or Automated Guided Carts (AGC).

They rely on guidance systems and infrastructure such as beacons or magnetic tapes on the floor to perform their tasks.

The main difference between AGVs and AMRs is that AVGs cannot function without additional infrastructure and are typically used in controlled indoor spaces.

Automated Guided Vehicles follow routes provided by the central system; they can’t change their path and would typically stop in front of an obstacle until it has been cleared as they can’t move out of their track.

Automated Guided Vehicles have numerous applications that range from handling raw materials to handling finished products and even pallet handling. They are used in various industries such as automotive, manufacturing, and warehousing.
